Boardwalk between Rapperswil and Hurden
The boardwalk between Rapperswil and Hurden, which was opened in 2001, is infested by a wood decay fungus – the oak mazegill- and has to be partially renovated.
Within the framework of a research project, all poles have been sprayed with a Trichoderma suspension several times a year for approx. 4 years. According to an expert opinion, excellent results have been achieved so far and those responsible are convinced that even greater damage has been avoided.
The poles are now treated once a year with a biological Trichoderma varnish. Further tests are underway to stop the existing internal rot.
