MycoSolutions offers product innovations for arboriculture. The Avengelus product range is environmentally friendly, as it uses natural control mechanisms. The main biological ingredient, Trichoderma, coexists with mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial insects. It can also be used in locations where chemically-synthetic agents are forbidden. Regarding groundwater protection there are no application restrictions.

In the following you will find examples of applications where Avengelus products can be very useful:

  • Tree nurseries

Our Avengelus granules are used in nurseries as a soil additive to promote a healthy soil biology, reduce the risk of plant transplant shock and help seal root pruning wounds (related to undercutting). Open wounds are potential entrance sites for harmful fungi, which can be directly prevented or controlled by the application of our product. Avengelus also facilitates nutrient uptake and promotes general tree health by means of pre-immunisation to pathogens.

  • new plantings

When planting new trees we recommend our product Avengelus for treatment and sealing of wounds of the transplanted root ball and for supporting fibrous root growth. Avengelus achieves very good results when used in combination with carbon-enriched biochar. Carbon-enriched biochar prevents soil compaction and stores moisture in the soil. This supports the growth of Trichoderma atrobrunneum (former harzianum) and ensures a better water supply to the tree.

  • Replanting of trees infested with pathogenic wood decay fungi (treatment of contaminated soil)

Often trees infected by wood decay fungi become unstable and must be felled. Replanting is often a requirement in such cases. To avoid the newly planted tree succumbing to the same diseases (e.g. Armillaria) we recommend the replacement of the affected soil and a treatment with our Avengelus products, where a treatment is available for a certain range of pathogenic wood decay fungi.

  • Treat common pathogenic wood decay fungi

Our Avengelus range offers treatment for common decay fungi. Since harmful fungi grow and spread over a period of years until the first symptoms become visible, we recommend continual treatment for a duration of at least four years.

  • Rare or not unidentified pathogenic fungi

If the fungus cannot be determined on site we provide isolation and identification of the wood decay fungus in the laboratory. For this we need samples of the fruiting body or rhizomorph. Following the analysis, a tailor made Avengelus LAB product can be produced.

  • Treating pruning wounds or other injuries

Pruning wounds or general injuries to the tree are potential entrance sites for for pathogens. By spraying or brushing Avengelus, wounds are allowed to seal while keeping pathogenic decay fungi out.
